Evelyn Grace Academy - Holiday Camp (11 - 16yrs)
Ark Evelyn Grace Academy
We are extremely delighted to deliver a free, fully funded 4-week community multi-sport holiday camp for young people aged 11–16 at Ark Evelyn Grace Academy. The camp will run every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 28 July to 20 August, from 10am–2pm. The camp is open to young people of all abilities. No previous sporting experience is needed. Whether a young person already enjoys sport, wants to build confidence, is looking to try something new, or simply wants to be part of a fun and supportive environment, this camp has been created to help them feel welcome and encouraged. A key aim of the programme is to reduce barriers to participation. We want young people to feel that they can take part without pressure, comparison or judgement. Sessions will include a mix of familiar activities such as football, basketball and athletics, alongside activities that young people may not have tried before, including dance, podcasts, adapted games, team challenges, multi-sports and confidence-building activities. The camp will place a strong focus on helping young people try new things. This is especially important at the start of the programme, where activities will be designed to help participants settle in, mix with others and feel part of the group without existing friendship groups, ability levels or sporting reputations taking over. A key feature of the camp will be girls-only sessions. These sessions are designed to create a safe, encouraging and supportive space for girls to take part, build confidence, try activities, develop skills and feel represented within the programme. Alongside mixed sessions, the girls-only sessions will help ensure that girls have dedicated opportunities to participate, be heard and enjoy being active in an environment that feels comfortable and empowering. These sessions will predominantly be led by female coaches too. The programme will be delivered by qualified and first aid trained coaches, who are also DBS checked. The Active Edge team is experienced in working with young people and is committed to creating an environment where every participant feels safe, respected and supported to get involved at their own pace. This camp is not just about sport. It is about giving young people a place where they can feel welcome, express themselves, build friendships, develop confidence, learn new skills and enjoy being active in a positive community setting.
